Ink and Inspiration

Post by Shaista Parpia

You stood before us, steady and bright,
A beacon of wisdom, a guiding light.
With every word, a story unfurled,
You opened the door to a brand-new world.

You taught me the magic of ink on a page,
How words hold power beyond their cage.
With every lesson, you planted a seed,
A love for writing—a lifelong creed.

You showed me how endings don’t have to be neat,
That a pause can make hearts skip a beat.
A cliffhanger, a moment left untold,
A story that lingers, a mystery to hold.

You saw the poet within my soul,
Encouraged my voice, made me whole.
Where others saw scribbles, you saw art,
Molding my words, shaping my heart.

Now every line I craft with care,
Carries your wisdom, subtle yet rare.
Your lessons live on in all that I do,
For the writer I am—I owe it to you.

A Tribute to Ms. Evelyn Nyokabi

To the teacher who sparked my love for words,

This poem is dedicated to one of my favorite teachers, Ms. Evelyn Nyokabi.
More than an educator, she has been a guiding light, shaping my love for writing and poetry.
She taught me the art of storytelling, the beauty of cliffhangers, and the power of leaving readers yearning for more.

Her lessons were not just words written on a board; they were seeds planted deep within me, growing into my passion for writing. Today, every poem I pen, every story I weave, carries a part of her influence.

Thank you, Ma’am, for the wisdom, the encouragement, and the inspiration.
