No Place to Call Home

Post by Shaista Parpia

All I ever wanted
Was unconditional love,
From all directions equal;
Around and above.

Every compromise I made
In return for affection,
Always returned casually
With a hint of Dejection.

A giant rulebook
To carry in my head,
Every personal decision
Always made with dread.

Every thought of mine,
Analysed by critics.
Every step I took,
Followed by iridics.

The ticking of the clock
With great disparity,
Taught me that love
Has great expense and rarity.

Offered to the privileged
And given to the affluent,
Love is but a present
Not at all profluent.
